Gwadar word was actually “Gwat-a-dar” which means the door of wind in Balochi. Gwadar was a district of Balochistan. Balochistan is one of the major Province of Pakistan. It is the largest province in terms of land area forming the South-Western region of the country but it is the least populated. Its Provincial capital and the largest city is Quetta. Balochistan is very important for Pakistan because of the high concentration of natural resources including Oil, Coal, Gold, Copper, and Gas stock. Gwadar actually means “Gateway of the wind”. US Survey : Pakistan asked the US to survey the Gwadar area, US Geological survey studied the area and told Pakistan that Gwadar is a Goldmine, Grab it!. This happened in 1954 when Pakistan started talk with Oman after the long conference, a deal was made and for 5.5 Billion Pakistani rupees Oman sold Gwadar to Pakistan, Omani’s called it “Ghuwadar” they cannot pronounce the hard G sound. In 1958,11 years after the independence, Gwadar became a part of Pakistan. Pakistan wanted Gwadar to be what Dubai is today. Begum Viqar Un Nisa lobbied in the British Parliament to prevail them to support Pakistans stance on Gwadar and Prince Agha khan is purchased Gwadar from Oman forUSD 3 million and gifted it to Pakistan. Pakistan identified Gwadar as a port side as far back as 1954 when Gwadar was still under Omani rule. Pakistani’s interest in Gwadar started when, in 1954, it engaged the United States Geological Survey (USGS) to conduct a survey of its coastline. On 8th September 1958, Pakistan purchased the Gwadar enclave from Oman Gwadar became a part of Pakistan on 8th December 1958.
Famous things of Gwadar : Gwadar is famous for three things its finishing village 5-star hotel on hammerhead and last one the famous Gwadar Port which was opened in 2007 by General President Chief Executive Pervez Musharraf. Gwadar Port is the deepest seaport in the world, situated on the Arabian Sea at Gwadar in Balochistan. Gwadar Port became formally operational on 14th November 2016. Gwadar’s location and his history have given it a unique blend of cultures. The Arabic influence upon Gwadar is too strong as the consequence of the Omani Era .
