Gwadar word was actually “Gwat-a-dar” which means the door of wind in Balochi. Gwadar was a district of Balochistan. It is the largest province in terms of land area forming the South-Western region of the country but it is the least populated. Gwadar actually means “Gateway of the wind”. US Survey : This happened in 1954 when Pakistan started negotiations with Oman after a long conference, reached an agreement and sold 5,500 million Pakistani rupees to Oman to sell Gwadar in Pakistan. Omani’s called it “Ghuwadar” they cannot pronounce the hard G sound. In 1958,11 years after the independence, Gwadar became a part of Pakistan. Pakistan wanted Gwadar to be what Dubai is today. Begum Waqar In Nisa has demanded that the British Parliament defeat her so that she can support Pakistan’s position on the purchase of Gwadar in Pakistan by Owad and Prince Aga Khan. Identified Gwadar as a port side as far back as 1954 when Gwadar was still under Omani rule. Pakistani’s interest in Gwadar started when, in 1954, it engaged the United States Geological Survey (USGS) to conduct a survey of its coastline. On 8th September 1958, Pakistan purchased the Gwadar enclave from Oman Gwadar became a part of Pakistan on 8th December 1958.
